Frequently asked questions
Everything families ask before they start.
Do I need to speak Spanish to start?
No. Mamaestra welcomes moms, dads and caregivers at every Spanish level. We teach you simple Spanish, songs and games first, and you share them with your child. You learn, you share, and you grow together.
How old should my child be?
Mamaestra is for babies and toddlers from 0 to 36 months (Seeds 0–12 m, Sprouts 12–24 m, Blooming 24–36 m). For kids we offer Loritos (3–5, Mamaestra graduates), Level Up (5–7, first time learning Spanish) and Yo y mi mundo (8+, beginning to speak Spanish). Not sure? Use Find my path.
Are the classes online or in person?
Our coaching is online, so families can join from anywhere. Personal coaching gives you one-on-one virtual support to bring Spanish into your daily routines. Write to us to ask about in-person options in San Francisco.
How much time does it take each day?
Just minutes a day. Mamaestra is built around short, repeated moments in familiar routines: meals, playtime, cuddles and bedtime.
What materials do you use?
Our own books, songs, puppets and activities: the Lullaby & Cradle Songbook, the handmade Mamaestra ToyBook, Bilingual Onomatopoeias, mini books, workbooks and flashcards, all adapted to your Spanish level.
Who is Nanny Maestra for?
Nanny Maestra is a professional training program, taught in Spanish, for nannies and caregivers who want to support a baby's bilingual development. See the program.
