Description
Reading can be fun and challenging with the Mamaestra StoryBook Program.
We have created a challenge of 20 small readings to create a habit in bilingual reading. The importance of a bilingual reading habit in diverse cities like San Francisco, as it opens up the mind to new experiences, and new cultures and provides new avenues of knowledge. But overall, our products wake up the importance to read in another language.
WHY: How Do Bilingual Reading Skills Work?
For the Mamaestra program Repetition and reproduction of the language are key to developing your skills, so the more you read, the more you’ll notice specific phrases and grammatical structures tend to crop up frequently. The act of reading increases familiarity and ensures that words become ingrained in the brain. PLUS the mini-book craft gives a positive plus to our children to integrate art and creativity. Due to the fact that bilingual books provide sentences, context, and intentions in both languages, children and adults can see similarities between words and can compare/learn sentence structure, making them more eager to practice their newfound literacy skills in a second language.
You (all) can improve your writing and speaking skills by reading. We invite kids to read for fun and we welcome them to read in a second language as a challenge (Retobilinguismo). Some vocabulary will be introduced in the target language. There is no expectation from the reader here and you can understand the meaning of words through context. Critical reading can be applied here to help the participants to analyze and question the assumptions in the text. It enables you to arrive at your own conclusions.
