Mamaestra Collection

Let's work together to accomplish this goal!

What is the Mamaestra de Español Program?

It is an Early Bilingual Stimulation Program designed to introduce the mother to the language so she can introduce it to the child later. This will ensure that the baby's experiences and interactions with the parents are beautiful, sweet, and linguistically functional. In conjunction with One Parent, One Language (OPOL) or Time and Place (T&P), Mamamestra de Espanol activities, coaching, and products can be used as an outside resource for families to build a habit at home that focuses on the minority language.

This program is primarily developed for families where none of the parents or caregivers speak the target language (Spanish), so they depend exclusively on external resources or assistance like us to provide target language input to their children. Because some families have parents who are familiar with some of the language, but not enough to provide consistent input, our curriculum is designed to provide the content and the guidance on how to teach in that language. This is why we include coaching once per week with our materials. Let's do this together! Just hold our hands and we'll be fine.

In our 30-minute sessions, the teacher-author leads the parent in engaging with the child using Mamaestra material through games, music, and language activities. It is then transferred to the child by the caregiver (this is Mamaestra's concept) until the next coaching session when moms will receive another topic. As well as providing advice on how to use the method at home, we also provide guidance to families. We also encourage you to contact us if you have any questions about child-directed Spanish, raising bilingual children, or our materials.

Science Behind this Program

Benefits from Learning a Second language

Early exposure to a second language offers five main benefits.

  • Faster and easier learning.
  • Enhance problem-solving and creativity.
  • Enhance your future career prospects.
  • Build tolerance by connecting with other cultures.
  • Utilize the brain's potential to the fullest extent possible

Learning a Second language at Early Age

Science indicates that babies’ brains are the best learning machines ever created and that infants’ learning is time-sensitive. Their brains will never be better at learning a second language than they are between 0 and 3 years of age.

Learning a Second language through music

In the early months of life, when brain pathways are formed, lullabies help infants create neural pathways for calming down, soothing, and falling asleep but also to acquire sounds from different languages.

We will ensure that our students develop a love for learning foreign languages and never lose interest in the language.

Why Mamaestra?

A second language can be challenging, but it is ALWAYS, ALWAYS worth the effort to learn a second language for its million benefits! This is a hispanic site that helps parents, teachers, and caregivers raise bilingual children. We provide you with the best resources to help you learn and teach Spanish to your child, no matter where you are on your language learning journey.

  • We strongly believe that no one can teach your baby better than you.
  • There is no one else who can put in as much work as you.
  • There is no one who can do what you do with such passion and interest.

Having a bilingual baby and teaching your child Spanish is possible through the Mamaestra Program.

How It Works

Working Together

Parents interested in teaching Spanish to babies and toddlers while they are home-schooling their kids will love this book series. Through early bilingualism, students become familiar with the language and build fluency and become familiar with starting with sounds, phrases, lullabies, songs, games, toys, and continuing with fun activities, engaging topics, and hands-on learning.

The activities in this book collection are linked to a formal upper-level curriculum. There are three books available, including Mamaestra I, which contains 50 daily small dialogues between a mother and a new baby. You can use these expressions throughout the day. In addition, we have complementary books and songs like 50 lullabies, 10 mini-book collections and onomatopoeias. Our next level, Mamaestra II, includes a toybook, which is a hand-made book (toy book) for the child to manipulate, based on which the songs, readings, and workbook are designed. Our main goal is to increase vocabulary by 300 words. Topics include the alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes, family, pets, and the zoo. In the third level, Mamaestra III, our products continue to increase the language but at a more conversational level with full sentences. The ToyBook units are also included in this level. Aside from these activities, the program includes: mamaestra reading time, mamaestra craft time, mamaestra story time, mamaestra circle time, and mamaestra Spanish coaching.

This workbook helps moms to help young kids learn Spanish through easy-to-follow instructions for lessons. Additionally, moms can have a subscription to our website and follow with us a lesson online.

Designed to enhance current homeschool, classroom, and virtual Spanish curriculum settings, parents and teachers can support student learning using the social media for extra support.

How does the Mamaestra de Español Program work?

This method emphasizes social interaction with the mother or caregiver, and during these daily encounters, the program offers a variety of games, songs, and activities. With “infant-directed speech,” we start with sounds, words, phrases, sentences, questions, and daily expressions using simpler grammar, a high pitch, and a drawn-out vowel. Here are some steps we suggest:

01
The parent introduces the vocabulary flashcards and complements it with a song from that chapter. After the words have been spoken gently, the simple tune is played. Our songs are available through the subscription service.
02
The words are repeated, and the child is invited to mimic them if he or she is capable. Appropriate items from the toybook can be used as well.
03
Activities and games that will make practice fun are included in each lesson.
04
Repeat as you feel comfortable, continue to the next lesson when you feel it is time to do it. Remember, the child is absorbing all the vocabulary, whether they are ready to speak it or not.

Principles that guide us

01
WITH REPETITION: Practice, practice to master.
Even when children are little, this method works for adult students. Daily practice requires repetition and routines to create neurological connections. Learning your child's basic phrases and vocabulary from your daily routines is the best place to start.
02
LEARN TOGETHER: Mom and baby
The only person who can bring passion to a job is a close relative (mamaestra). When it comes to kids, one-to-one interaction in quality time is the best option. Watch the voice; infants tend to pay more attention and respond more eagerly to baby talk than to normal adult conversation.
03
MAKE IT PERSONAL
Whether you are fluent or just starting out, Mamaestra de Espa*ol / Spanish momteacher gives you the tools to become a functioning Spanish speaker. Do not worry about your R's, we have other materials and a Spanish coach to help you. Likewise, do not worry about your results after one month. The physical development of the child's brain occurs during the first 3 years. As the brain grows, it also forms the connections needed to think, learn, and process information. In the first few years, synapses form at a super-fast rate, about 700 per second. Using your voice to communicate with your baby activates the part of their brain that handles language. The more words your baby hears, the stronger those connections become. As a result, your child's language skills and their ability to learn will be strengthened.
04
KEEP IT REAL
Kids learn best in context that´s why we create a the books and a Mamaestra Toybook – when what they learn is meaningful to them! That’s why each lesson from the toybook focused on 20 most important topics that kids experience in real life, from mealtime to playtime and the school. And without them even knowing, you’ll help set the stage for academic success.

Mamaestra II - Toddlers
By now, after all our first mamaestra program your baby understands everything we ask. “Ven aquí”, “abre la boca”, “¿Quién es él?” “¿Quieres comer?” “¡Vamos al parque!” Now, it is time to push the Spanish a little bit more in the second year of bilingual language development -- the early verbal stage –. It is time to increase vocabulary, we aimed to reach 300+ words. We keep with the lullabies but at this time we invite the child to sing, dance, move and repeat with us. We incorporate hand motions, body movement, active fun games, and our mamaestra´s zumbi-moves for dancing to some great beat of the toybook songbook. In this course, you will work with the TOYBOOK to introduce very useful and relevant vocabulary like farm animals, zoo animals, colors, shapes, numbers, etc. We will move all our the toybook vocabulary, we will have the toybook`s songbook which is more active, we will have the storybook, and the workbook. Ready for the challenge, we also have the Mamaestra Coaching Time.

Aside from the toys and songbooks, we prepare prewriting and prereading materials for each topic in our lessons. Lessons are always high-energy and engaging, helping these little ones fall in love with learning, exploring, and speaking languages.
